Artist Statement

In my painting, I merge traditional imagery with contemporary colors and patterns. I am attracted to colorful fabrics as well as handcrafted objects such as Native American pottery. It is fascinating to see the way the pattern on the fabric changes according to how the fabric is folded.

My focus is on the 3-dimensional quality of the objects I paint. Since I am intrigued with sculptural forms, I enjoy painting plants, which I feel represent nature’s sculptures.
