Artist Statement

 

My objective is to have individual shapes of line and color relate to create a unified image. It is similar to the way the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle unite to form a picture.

Within the image, I strive for variation in line, hue, and value, yet there must be harmony in spite of this variation.

​

The black background is an integral part of the painting and helps to make the colored image more dramatic and powerful.
